About me
Genghis Ahmed - BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist
My Journey working in mental Health
I have worked in the Mental Health field since 2008 in many different contexts and roles. These have included working on wards, Primary Care settings and Secondary Care settings, as well as two voluntary organisations. This has helped me develop an understanding of mental health and its impact not only to the person themselves but also their relationship with others. Working both with severe and enduring mental health issues and mild to moderate symptoms has given me a wide range of skills and attributes that have helped me develop as a therapist. I have also built up an understanding of medication treatment from working with severe and enduring disorders . I have been an accredited CBT Therapist since 2012 after completing my therapy training. In 2015 I passed my accreditation as a CBT supervisor and Supervisor for those completing their Psychology PhD.
Some of the common problems that usually present themselves during my work include Depression, Panic and Agoraphobia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Health Anxiety, Personality Disorders, relationship issues and worry.
I have a vast amount of experience working with people with different disabilities, health conditions and well as from different cultures. I also have a vast amount of experience working with the elderly. These experiences have aided me to become a more effective therapist.
My experience combines my academic learning, medical knowledge and my work experience. As a therapist my learning is never finished as the field of mental health is always ever evolving. I am committed to life long learning in this field and enjoy future challenges.
I am registered with the UK’s leading medical insurance companies Including Aviva, PPP HealthCare, Nuffied, Cigna.
